The U.S. Green building council developed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program to provide a benchmark for design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED program gives points to the aggregate system of the building. Individual components of the building do earn points by themselves. The following chart shows how LEED points are awarded:
| LEED Section | Subject | Potential Points |
| MR Credit 4.1 & 4.2 | Recycled Content | 2 |
| MR Credit 7.2 | Heat Island Effect: Roof | 1 |
| MR Credit 5.1 & 5.2 | Use of Regional Materials | 2 |
| MR Credit 3.1& 3.2 | Materials Reuse | 2 |
*Based on LEED New Construction - Version 2.2
Capital Steel Industries is proud to supply buildings that have 80% recycled content, roof paints with solar reflectance, 7 plant locations that utilize regional materials, and all steel materials are 100% recyclable in the future.
